Out of the three options I chose to complete option #3. I chose to do this one because I felt as if that option really gave me the opportunity to show who I am as a professional and create the path of how I want to be showcased to possible future employers. I also think by picking this option it creates the possibility of randomly posting blogs like that to keep my portfolio active and lively. Being such a young hair stylist, it can be challenging, especially because you constantly get doubted by people, they don’t think you are capable of providing what they are looking for because you are so young. Show casing that I am eager to learn about the next big thing, or even just attending educational events and classes to refresh my information on a service is how I want to be presented as a professional. Being able to incorporate my communication skills I’m picking up along the way it’s a huge plus, and I think it helping build me as a professional hairstylist as well. Being able to use these skills everyday I’m behind the chair helps me stand out from all the other hair stylist.
As for other edits I made to my page, I changed out a few of the pictures because the others were put on the page about a year ago, and I feel like a lot has changed, especially in my work, in the past year. I really wanted the page to show who I am as a professional, and so I need to keep everything up to date because we are always growing as a professional, and you get better as you grow. Another thing I changed, was getting rid of unused social media icons, or un-linked them from the generic Wix links on my about me and contact page. I have provided pictures at the bottom of what the page originally looked like before the editing. I recently curated my page for another course and overlooked those icons until I received feedback on it. After making these changes I’m really starting to like my eportfolio and I feel like it does capture who I am as a stylist. However, I know that there will always be room for improvements, and that I will continue to change things a long the way, but I really enjoy the page and being able to express myself, especially in a professional setting, and being able to show this to possible future employers.
