About Me:

I’m Hannah Hovey a communications major here at ODU. I’m from Fredericksburg Virginia where I was born and raised. Aside from school I work full time starting my career as a hairstylist in downtown Fredericksburg. I started doing hair back in high school and actually graduated with my cosmetology license.

 

When I graduate in May with my bachelors of Communications I hope to continue that career until I eventually own my own salon. When I’m not doing school work, or at work I like to spend my free time with my fiancé and family. I like to adventure and be outside, but I also like to stay in and watch movies.

My courses have directly helped my career and will continue to help my career by strengthening my communication skills as a whole. When I first started I wasn’t always the best at confidently communicating with people. In the hair industry communication is key, especially when conducting a consultation with a client trying to figure out exactly what they are wanting their end result to be. They have also strengthened my social media skills in communications as well as marketing my work, and showing myself in a professional setting.
